Sweet and Sustainable

Barefoot Beekeeping is dedicated to offering you the highest quality honey through sustainable practices and treatment free beekeeping. We never use chemicals on our hives. We invite predatory insects to manage pests on our flowers and are working towards creating a biodynamic ecosystem here on our farm.
Mission
We are all part of nature.
At Barefoot Beekeeping, our mission is to foster an appreciation for bees and beekeeping, making it accessible to everyone. We promote environmental stewardship through sustainable practices and the creation of bee-friendly habitats.
We are passionate about bees and all pollinators alike, and feel it is our duty to create environments that support them. In doing so we have fallen into flower farming and want to share the beauty and joy of flowers with everyone. Together we can create an unbroken chain for pollinators to not only survive but thrive.
Treatment Free Beekeeping means no chemicals... ever!
Treatment Free Beekeeping
In our apiary and on our farm we do not use any harsh chemicals. This means that we do not treat our bees for pests, but instead rely on the bees to manage the pests on their own through good hygiene practices and genetics. We catch swarms to diversify the genetics from proven overwintered colonies to strengthen our apiary. The varroa mite continues to destroy colonies across America and as its resistance to treatment continues to grow we feel that the best way forward is to skip the treatments and intervention and instead focus on genetics.
